SAVE EARTH CAMPAIGN

Aesthetics of Lines

Time flows along the Earth's rotational speed. Time has never stopped so far, and it is still flowing in a certain direction and at regular intervals. On top of that flow, countless lives were depicted in different shapes as if they resembled each other, repeating blooming and blooming again for a long time. Even at this moment, we live 24 hours a day and night in our respective seats.

Traveling outside of Korea was an experience of facing various scenes of life. There were quite unique and strange scenes, such as the extinction and evolution of African wildlife, the rapidly developing selfishness of civilization, the resulting gap between rich and poor, and the long-running traditional lifestyle, unfolding before your eyes as if you were traveling in time between the past and the past and future. Perhaps the strange feelings and experiences I felt at that time led me to my current work unconsciously.

In 2020, the personal time I took to go to different countries decreased due to the famous COVID-19 virus. Just in time, a single mail from that period gave me an opportunity to look at the picture from a different perspective. That's when the work started. I wanted to capture the flow of time in a picture where the present beyond the viewfinder becomes the past when the shutter is pressed. In addition, pastel tones, minimalism, and pictorial expressions were added to reconstruct the picture. Everything was as natural as the clock cogs turned, and I was happy while working. The constant flow of time became a line, color, and hope on the picture.

The scenes I met at various travel destinations became their own stories depending on the color and atmosphere of the day, various cultures and lifestyles, and the relative time accumulated.

  • Suicide Prevention Campaign

On average, there are 130 suicides per day. The word "suicide" is something people have tried straying away from, forgetting as it correlates with pain and the loss of an important life. However, in our minds, suicide is not what is important but the reason and the process that leads up to it is more vital. More significantly, the reason and the process can be changed. It can be prevented. That is why The Hopeful People of New York has started our suicide prevention campaign in collaboration with The Gala Art Center during times when our suicide rates have gotten higher. We hope to acknowledge the value of life and share our personal emotions as a society and as humans.
